Sexual Selection

Sexual selection is the means by which members of one biological sex of a species choose mates of the opposite sex. This process varies widely between species and is highlighted by strategies by which members seek to have better reproductive success than others. Throughout the majority of species sexual selection consists of the quantity of reproductive opportunities for males while females, with their more limited reproductive ability, typically seek the highest quality mates (the largest, strongest, smartest). What determines sexual selection can differ between species and between different cultures.
