Karyotyping

Karyotyping is a technique which provides a general information of an organism’s chromosomal makeup by systematically ordering and pairing chromosomes. Standardized staining processes are done to better identify the structure of each chromosome. Analyzing karyotypes is essential in looking into chromosomal deletions, inversions, duplications, and other structure-related alterations. Thus, karyotyping is being used in diagnosing certain genetic conditions as well as cancer.
