Ethology

Ethology is the scientific study of animal behavior in natural settings (as opposed to laboratory settings which are created by researchers). An example of an ethological study would be observing bird calls in the wild and how they influence bird behaviors. Another common example is studying the social structure of apes in their natural habitat.
