Behavioral Medicine

Behavioral medicine is a field of study that combines biological, medical, social and psychological focuses as a disease model. Emphasis is placed on remediation, rehabilitation, and healing. A main tenet in this field of research is the behavioral factors that contribute to many diseases like addiction, smoking, poor diet, and lack of exercise. By placing importance on behavioral factors, the prevalence of many harmful diseases can be reduced. Behavioral medicine encompasses many fields like health psychology, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, and disease prevention.
