Attentional Bias

Attentional bias is the human tendency to allow current thinking to be influenced by recurring thoughts.

For instance, if a person is having recurrent thoughts about sex, their conversations and speech may be laced with sexual innuendos and double entendres. Likewise, if a person's mindset is concentrated on academics or business they may be constantly making comparisons with or allusions to their studies or business dealings. Information consistent with a person's interests or beliefs is more salient and noticeable than information that is not.
