Vision Rehabilitation

Vision rehabilitation or vision rehab is the process of promoting independent functioning among individuals with visual impairment. It is important to note that vision rehab does not aim to reverse the damage; instead, it helps patients adapt to their routines with their current condition. Treatments and education are combined to assist individuals in achieving optimum quality of life.

For instance, a patient is undergoing mobility training to help him navigate in various environments. He is also having home skills training to improve his skills on self-care, socialization, and future planning. Moreover, he has vocational trainings to help him advance an appropriate career in the society. Also, he is considering to undergo gene therapy to possibly restore a percentage of his vision.
