Septum

A septum is a divider of a cavity or structure. It is based on the Latin word “sepire” which means “to enclose”. For instance, the nasal septum refers to the nostrils’ cartilage partition. In cell biology, the boundary during cell division is also called a septum. Other examples include the partitions found in fruits, corals, heart atria, and alveoli.
