Receptive Language

Receptive language is the experience of listening to and reading language. The opposite of this is expressive language, which are the skills of speaking and writing language. These skills combined are the basis of human communication. Hearing language as a baby is the precursor to speaking. The more language a child hears, the better their verbal communication skills will develop, likewise the more reading experiences a child has the better their writing and reading comprehension skills will be.
