Quantitative EEG (qEEG)

Quantitative EEG (qEEG) is a computerized or digitized analysis of an electroencephalogram (EEG). Sometimes referred to as brain mapping, qEEG is used, along with an EEG, to study the functioning of and changes in the brain. For example, changes that may take place after medication is introduced or as a result of neurofeedback. An EEG measures the electrical activity or brainwaves that occur during brain activity. qEEG processes the EEG using computers and differing algorithms. Once processed, the qEEGs are commonly represented by 'maps' of the brain's function, frequently color-coded and called brain maps.
