Pseudoscience

A pseudoscience is a system of beliefs and procedures that have no basis in empirical science but yet can be very popular and widely believed in. Some of these are astrology, cheiromancy (palm-reading), phrenology and graphology. Other practices that have been considered pseudosciences in the past, and that, while not completely mainstream, have achieved some respect and acceptance since they were first introduced are acupuncture and hypnosis.
