Pathogenesis

Pathogenesis is a disease’s origin, development, and severity. It describes the mechanism of how an illness begins and pertinent chain of events. This term is based on the Greek words “pathos” which means “suffering” or “disease” and “genesis” which means “creation”. Its types include inflammation, microbial infection, tissue breakdown, and malignancy. For instance, a case of food poisoning may be caused by the ingestion of parasites or bacteria. This microbial infection will then lead to vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever.
