Paranoid-Schizoid

Paranoid-Schizoid position is a developmental stage that is posited in object-relations theory. It refers to a stage of emotional development that occurs in the first year of life (birth to 6 months) when a child first experiences the the conflict of life and death drives. This is believed to lead to a "splitting" effect while the child begins to grasp the conception of items being good or bad.
