Paradoxical Intention
The psychological technique known as paradoxical intention encourages the patient to change their mindset from avoiding the fear that is plaguing them, to instead welcome and increase the situations where their anxiety is triggered.
That is the paradox. The typical behavior is to avoid situations where anxiety arises and this just re-enforces the fear.
Viktor Frankl wrote the book Man's Search for Meaning after experiencing the horrors and hopelessness of being in a World War 2 concentration camp.
He devised the style of analysis and therapy known as Logotherapy. Paradoxical Intention forms a part of this modern therapy.
