Orthopsychiatry

Orthopsychiatry is a branch of psychiatry that is most concerned with the study and prevention of mental or behavioral disorders, with its greatest emphasis on child development and family life. It is a multidisciplinary approach which promotes mental health practices which are aimed to have a lasting impact until adulthood.

For instance, a parent has been struggling in dealing with her 12-year-old daughter regarding her anger management issues and aggressive behavior. With the help of multiple professionals (psychologist, psychiatrist, nurse, and pediatrician), an intervention program composed of various strategies was developed and implemented. Specifically, she had regular therapy sessions, family counseling, and several lifestyle changes.
