Orthography came from the Greek words “orthos” which means “correct” and “graphein” which means “to write”. It is the conventional spelling system and use (grammar, syntax, etc.) of a language. In the case of widely-used languages (such as English and Spanish) an "international standard" is used in business, education, media coverage and other uses without resort to the many local dialects that these languages invariably have.
For instance, English is the standard language that is used in international aviation to reduce the confusion of having many different languages being spoken in cockpits and control towers.
