Occipital Cortex

The occipital cortex is the outer layer of the brain situated at the back part of the cerebrum. It is specifically located behind the parietal lobe and temporal lobes. The occipital lobe is mainly responsible for processing visual information. For instance, a patient with traumatic brain injury became blind after his occipital cortex got damaged.
