Non-Monogamy

Non-monogamy refers to the existence of marriage or sexual relationships with one or more partners simultaneously. Ongoing relationships of these types are referred to as bigamy, polygamy or polygyny or polyandry. Legal and social acceptance of these relationships vary between cultures and religions. Less permanent or occasional relationships outside of marriage (affairs, one-night-stands, etc,) may or may not accrue legal or social consequences depending once again on local culture.
