No-Suicide Contracts

No-suicide contracts are also termed as no-suicide agreements, no-suicide promises, no-suicide commitments, suicide contracts, suicide agreements, suicide prevention contracts, and no-harm commitments. They are non-legal documents which specify guides for persons who feel suicidal. These agreements aim to establish a mindset that committing suicide is never an option and to give guidance to individuals who are very confused and in deep pain during a suicidal state.

The most fundamental part of the contract is the signed commitment that under no circumstances will the individual die by suicide. The other sections specify the contact information of individuals and groups which can provide support. For instance, 911 must be called when there is immediate danger while 1-800-SUICIDE will be called when mild suicidal thoughts occur.
