Narcotherapy

Narcotherapy is a treatment which uses psychological methods with narcotic medication. It is conducting psychotherapy with a semi-conscious patient. For example, narcotherapy was used to help soldiers who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Narcotherapy is also defined as the use of narcotics in surgical operations. It originated in China in 770 to 221 BC. For instance, an ancient Chinese physician named Hua Tuo was recorded to perform the earliest laparotomy by letting the patient drink herbs with anesthesia function before removing some parts of his/her intestines.
