Myxedema

Myxedema is characterized by weight gain, swelling in the face, legs, or tongue, cold intolerance, fatigue, drooping eye, goiter, decreased breathing, coarse hair, and reduced mobility. Other symptoms include depression, confusion, high levels of carbon dioxide in the blood, and coma. This condition is a severe form of hypothyroidism and may be treated with levothyroxine, a synthetic thyroxine hormone.
