Mensa

Mensa is the famous high IQ society which is a non-profit organization for people who score at or above the 98th percentile (top 2% of the population) of an accredited intelligence test; however, the American Mensa has its own application exam. This international organization envisions to identify and promote the development of human intelligence for humanity’s benefit, inspire pertinent research, and provide a stimulating environment for Mensa members. Some of their programs include scholarships, annual summits, research assistance, and special interest groups.

“Mensa” is a Latin word which means “table”. This society was created to cater to intelligent people from all walks of life. It was founded by Roland Berill, an Australian barrister, and Lancelot Ware, a British scientist and lawyer. They met by chance on a train from Cambridge to London; the society was then created in 1946 at Lincoln College in Oxford, England. Mensa is currently in more than 80 countries with more than 100,000 members.
