Melancholia

Melancholia is a somewhat old fashion term that refers to a solemn or depressed mood where a person feels sad and low for a prolonged period of time. Although not an actually diagnosis, it is generally viewed as a non-specific type of depression that is characterized by low levels of energy and enthusiasm. Its modern diagnosis would normally be some degree of clinical depression.
