Mechanoreceptor

A mechanoreceptor is a sensory receptor cell that responds to mechanical pressure or distortion. Hairless skin contains 4 types of mechanoreceptors. These receptors register touch, vibrations, deep tension in the skin and fascia (connective tissues like collagen), and sustained pressure. Receptors that are inside hair follicles react to movement of the hair follicles and cause hair to be the most sensitive receptors of all.
