Jamais vu is a false sense of of unfamiliarity with something that has been experienced before. This is the contrasting idea to deja vu which is the feeling that something has happened before. Instead of feeling like you've experienced something before something familiar feels foreign and strange. It is typically a fearful or negative emotion. Jamais vu is sometimes used as an umbrella term to include jamais entendu and jamais vacu. It can be a symptom of temporal lobe epilepsy.
