Involuntary Hospitalization

Involuntary hospitalization, also known as involuntary commitment or involuntary treatment, compels a patient to be treated due to a mental health condition. This is based on the principle that individuals with impaired judgment is dependent on others’ initiative.

For instance, someone with hallucinations and delusions almost kills his spouse; he is then committed to receive inpatient treatment against his will.
