Interoceptive

The term interoception describes the capacity to consciously or unconsciously detect, understand and respond to internal signals from the body, like our heart beating faster or being thirsty. This capacity varies from person to person, meaning that some people can detect and distinguish their internal body signals more than others. People with high interoceptive awareness can quickly identify what is happening in their bodies and correctly respond to that signal. For example, after a long day of work, a person senses that their body is tired and responds by getting some sleep.
