Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)

An Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) is a document which features the processes to guide and support the development of children until three years of age. The IFSP is for children who are proven to be in need of early intervention services. It focuses on early childhood development while IEP is for those who are aged three to 21 years old. Such interventions generally occur in natural settings like the home as this is where the child is most comfortable. The IFSP team is composed of the parents, an advocate from outside the family, a service coordinator, and the professionals who are involved in providing the needed services. The IFSP is reviewed every six months and is updated every year.
