Incapacitant

An incapacitant is a biological or chemical substance which is used to temporarily debilitate people or animals. Incapacitants generally cause loss of consciousness or the inability to harm others as well as protect oneself. This is often used in warfare, riot-control, and in subduing suspects or wild animals; examples include tear gas, incapacitant sprays, and sleeping gas.
