Illusion Of External Agency

The illusion of external agency is the false belief that good and positive things happen because of external influences rather than personal effort.

For instance, you get good grades in school and attribute that to many external variables ("The teacher likes me", "I wore my lucky necklace", I'm super lucky). Likewise, this could be a belief that bad things (like failing a test) happen due to external forces (I'm so unlucky, a witch cast a spell on me, the teacher hates me).
