Hypothetical Construct

A hypothetical construct is a non-observable and non-measurable concept inferred from the direct observation of a phenomenon or of a relationship that systematically occurs between events. Creativity is an example of a hypothetical construct: it cannot be directly measured or observed, however, we are able to infer a person’s creativity by observing their capacity to solve problems, have out-of-the-box ideas, create original pieces of work…. Creativity is, therefore, a concept that is hypothesized to mediate the manifestation of these outcomes.
