Gravity Induced-Loss Of Consciousness (G-LOC)

Gravity induced-loss of consciousness or G-LOC is the loss of consciousness due to the reduction of blood flow to the brain which occurs when an individual experiences a significant amount of force due to acceleration or gravity. This condition may occur among pilots, astronauts, and those experiencing extreme amusement park rides. For instance, a pilot making a maneuver that changes the G-loading (acting force upon the body), will feel that his arms are becoming heavier, his eyes will gradually lose blood flow, and his brain will have a decreased supply of oxygen. He will then instantly black out but he will regain consciousness when the G-loading is reduced.
