Gas Chromatography

Gas chromatography (GC) is a technique in analyzing gaseous substances. This analytical chemistry method is done by first dissolving the substance and then vaporizing it. The components of a mixture are then separated and the purity may be analyzed. The GC method was discovered and utilized by Mikhail Semyonovich Tsvet, a Russian botanist, in the early 1900s.
