Exsanguination

Exsanguination is extreme loss of blood from a living being to the point that it can lead to death.

For example, exsanguination is sometimes used when hunting - typically the animal's blood is drained by an incision. Exsanguination can also refer to someone dying by losing a lot of blood. If someone 'bleeds to death' they are experiencing exsanguination.
