Epidemic Catalepsy

Epidemic catalepsy is the manifestation of muscular rigidity, fixed posture, and decreased sensitivity to pain among a group of individuals. For instance, catalepsy may affect the students in one classroom or even the whole neighborhood. This has been hypothesized to be caused by hypnotism, imitation, or auto-suggestion.
