Empirical Method

Empirical method employs objective observation in gathering data. The collected information may be from direct or indirect examination of others’ or one’s own experience. This systematic procedure is employed to test or refine a theory. For instance, a researcher likes to test if listening to classical music improves short term memory. An experiment will then be conducted and the performance of the research subjects will be observed and recorded.
