Educational Placement

Educational placement pertains to the amount of time which a child with special needs spends in the resource or general education classroom. The details of this arrangement are decided by the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee after the development of the student’s individualized education program (IEP), a document which features the collaborative strategies best suited for the learning progress of the student. The ARD seeks to assure that the child is placed in a least restrictive environment (LRE) such as the inclusive setting. Some children may be in the general education setting for a few hours or the whole day depending on their condition.
