Drug-Seeking Behavior

Drug-Seeking Behavior is the dishonest and insistent behavior to obtain unwarranted medication. This is often associated with addiction, pain medications, and opioids. Individuals with this conduct often go from one doctor to another with the aim to obtain a number of prescriptions, forge doctors’ signatures, use fake names, and may become aggressive when denied drugs. For instance, a patient who is addicted to narcotics may pretend that he lost his prescriptions and that he is in excruciating pain so he badly needs a refill.
