Diathesis

Diathesis means susceptibility to a disease or disorder. For example, asthmatic diathesis refers to susceptibility for developing asthma. Someone might be at risk for asthma due to genetics (if their relatives have asthma) or due to the environment (if they grow up in a polluted area, for example).
