Conditioning

Conditioning is the process through which a stimulus and reaction become associated with one another. In animal training this is the process where the animal associates a reward (often food) with doing a trick or performing an action. If you've ever owned a puppy and trained it to sit or come, you used treats (in addition to a command) to motivate the behavior.
