Comprehension Monitoring

Comprehension monitoring is a method used in education that is aimed at teaching students to monitor their understanding of the text, even if it means rereading or asking questions about the text in order to fully understand the meaning of the text. This seen in many packaged reading comprehension programs where objectives are stated before the reading assignment and questions about the text are asked afterwards. Comprehension monitoring is also seen in text books where summary questions are asked at the end of the chapter to focus on the important facts that were contained in the chapter.
