Clitorectomy

Clitorectomy or clitoridectomy is the removal of the whole or a part of the clitoris. The nonmedical cutting of the clitoris is a form of female genital mutilation (FGM) which is still being practiced by some cultures since they believe that women should not experience sexual pleasure. The United Nations has been advocating the abandonment of this traditional procedure as it is greatly harmful to women’s physical and psychological health. On the other hand, the medical procedure is only due to rare cases such as malignancy, being intersexed, or related grave health concerns.
