Cardiomegaly, most often called "enlarged heart" is actually just that. The heart can become enlarged as a result of high blood pressure or arteriosclerosis. An enlarged heart does not pump blood effectively and leads to Congestive Heart Failure. This condition can reverse itself but most victims need medical management for the rest of their lives.
