Brugsch’s Index

Brugsch’s Index requires the multiplication of the chest circumference by 100 and dividing the product by the height. This method is used in anthropology in identifying the body type of the person. This index is often used in anthropometric measurements. For instance, it was found out that New Guineans have generally higher Brugsch’s indices than Japanese. This suggests that the measured New Guineans were more muscular than their Japanese counterparts.
