Blaming The Victim

Blaming the victim is the term used when people believe that crime victims have brought the crime upon themselves and therefore deserve what happened to them. This attitude is most readily evident when it comes to female rape victims and tries to focus the blame on how a woman was dressed, where she was, what time of the day it was, was she impaired, etc. to blame her for the crime rather than the perpetrator.
