Beneffectance

Beneffectance is a social psychology term which means the tendency to take all the credit for success (“beneficence”) and competence (“effectance”) while denying any accountability for failure. This has also been known as egotistic, self-serving, ego-defensive, or egocentric attribution. For instance, a basketball player would tend to think that they won the game because he played very well; however, he would blame the referee or somebody else if they lost.
