Basic Withdrawal

Basic withdrawal is a term that refers to the primary stage of withdrawing or withdrawal from an addictive substance. This phase is where the patient's body and mind are experiencing the loss of the addictive substance. Sometimes physical symptoms are the most extreme in this stage. This can be a dangerous and sometimes fatal process that may require medical supervision such as in alcohol and opiate addiction. Once the task of physical withdrawal is successfully completed, mental and emotional healing can commence.
