Basic Level

Basic Level is the level of mental categorization formed in the human memory that is the most easily and efficiently retrieved.  For instance, if we are out hiking and see a large animal with big teeth and claws we automatically categorize that animal as a threat without having to analyze what type of animal it is and why it’s a threat to us.
