Astasia-Abasia

Astasia-abasia is a condition in which a person cannot stand (astasia) or walk properly (abasia) even though they have working motor functions. Sufferers can move their legs while they are standing or walking which means there is nothing wrong with the function of their legs - it is something in the brain causing this. This is a form of hysterical ataxia and can be a symptom of stroke, Parkinson's disease, or brain damage.
