Adrenalectomy

An adrenalectomy is the surgical removal of one or both adrenal glands. This is most often done as the result of tumor growth and can be done by either an open or laparoscopic procedure. The loss of the adrenal glands results in the loss of adrenalin, norepinephrine and cortisol production. However, these can be replaced by the use of supplements.
