Thought Disorder

A Thought Disorder is an educational/psychological term that refers to an array of problems that interfere with communication and learning. This type of disorder can take one of two forms of disordered thought patterns The first type includes disorganized speech such as derailment (talking off subject), poverty of speech (shortage of vocabulary), tangentiality (talking about a related subject), illogicality (thoughts that don's make sense), perseveration (endless talking), neologism, and thought blocking. The second type is considered delusional speech that can be a side effect of a psychological conditions such as mania, depression, or a psychosis.
